I am a metamorphic petrologist with a strong interest in using petrochronology to sort out polymetamorphic terrains. This takes the form of dating all the minerals that I can (monazite, zircon, titanite, rutile, garnet, apatite) and using trace elements to understand the significance of the age results for the P-T-t evolution of the rock – and what this might mean for the tectonic evolution of the terrain. At the moment I am really interested in using garnet for in situ age dating via U-Pb and Lu-Hf because these ages can be directly tied with the P-T evolution of the rocks. I find this really exciting!

I am originally from Adelaide, South Australia, which is where I did my PhD. Since this time, I have done post-docs in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Ouro Preto, Brazil and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Currently I am a Senior Scientist at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK).

I really love to travel and see the world, I also try to take nice photos but this doesn’t always work out so well. In my free time, I really enjoy reading and also walking and cycling. I should try cross-country skiing at some point…
